The effect of red light therapy lamp on seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis is inflammation caused by excessive seborrhea, and free fatty acids produced by its decomposition irritate the skin. The disease usually manifests as greasy erythema, desquamation, and often accompanied by a burning sensation. Or itching, mostly chronic course, easy to relapse. At present, the common treatment methods are mainly the application of topical fat-removing drugs, antifungal drugs and other drugs.

In the experiment of the application of high-energy narrow-band red light irradiation in the treatment of facial seborrheic dermatitis, 48 patients were randomly divided into a control group and a treatment group. The control group was externally treated with 5% sulfur cream, and the treatment group used a wavelength of 633nm Red Light Therapy Lamp. The experimental results found that the effective rate of the control group was only 37.5%, while the red light treatment group was as high as 87.5%. There was a significant difference between the two groups.

The experimental results show that: (1) Red light irradiation can shrink the hypertrophic sebaceous glands, reduce the secretion of oil, and inhibit the proliferation of bacteria. (2) Repeated red light irradiation can dilute the pigmentation caused by facial inflammation, increase collagen synthesis, and play a role in skin rejuvenation. There are also studies that the application of 640nm Led Panel Red Light to treat facial seborrheic dermatitis can significantly improve the facial skin lesions of patients, and it is safe and effective. Therefore, the use of red light irradiation to treat facial seborrheic dermatitis has a significant effect, is safe and simple, and has no adverse reactions, and is worthy of clinical application.
